Personal Background

Dennis Smith is the founder and CEO of CompanySmith Inc.

He has more than 30 years of project leadership experience in software, electrical, and mechanical technologies.   He has served in many technical and leadership positions including project manager, marketing director, engineering vice president, and general manager at leading companies – large and small – including Honeywell Industrial Automation and Phoenix Controls.

Mr. Smith is the creator of Team/Project Acculitics_®, a breakthrough data-driven process that uncovers hidden team practices to greatly improve the predictability of technical and non-technical projects. Team/Project Acculitics uses proprietary methods that determine a project’s requirements for teamwork and compare them to measurements of actual project teamwork.

With his focus on project leadership, predictability, and risk mitigation, Mr. Smith’s insights have helped over a dozen project start-ups and turnarounds become successful.

Active in TEC Associates and the Project Management Institute, Mr. Smith is the author of over 60 articles in the popular “Ideas for Project Leaders” series. In addition, he has published over 30 articles on project management and product development including his monthly column as a contributing editor to People on Projects: Skills for the Superior Project Manager, a publication of the Center for Business Practices.
