Team Analysis

Every now and then I come across a technology that initially appears to have little to do with project management, but with my growing understanding, comes to be a tool that every project leader should understand.

Briefly, Social Network Analysis (SNA) is a methodology to rigorously gather, organize, and represent the complex interactions of the members of any team or organization. It focuses on the people and how they interact and can provide powerful ideas on how to improve your team performance.

One of my colleagues, Patti Anklam of Hutchinson Associates, has written a brief but excellent overview of this technology. I highly recommend that you read it; I’m sure you’ll be intrigued.
